Ngonyaka ka-1975 u-John Main OSB (1926-1982) wavula Isikhungo Sokuzindla  samaKhrestu sokuqala esigodlweni sakhe e-London.  Wayephinde futhi wathola isiko elilula lokuthula, ukujula ngomcabango ezimfundisweni zezindela zakudala zobuKhrestu, Obaba Bogwadule. Kwasheshe kwacaca kuye ukuthi leli siko lalifanelekile esikhathini sanamhlanje hhayi nje kuphela ezindleleni. Wakubona njengendlela yokuvuselela isonto kanye nomhlaba.

 Ukuzindla kulula futhi kuyenzeka. Kuya ngolwazi kunokusebenzisa ucabanga: kuyindlela yokuphila kunokuba yindlela yokucabanga. Ngendlela yomphumela ukuzindla okunayo empilweni yomuntu kungaphezulu ngisho kunendlela yokuthandaza; indlela yokuphila, indlela yokuphila ekujuleni kwesisekelo sempilo yomuntu ngazo zonke izikhathi.

 Ukuzindla komKhrestu kugxile kuKhrestu. Lokhu kusho ukuthi kusekelwe ekuqhubekeni nokuthanda uKhrestu okuthululelwe nguMoya Ongcwele ekujuleni komuntu ngamunye. Okujule kunayo yonke imibono ngoNkulunkulu uNkulunkulu uqobo lwakhe. Okujule kakhulu kunokucabanga ubuqiniso bukaNkulunkulu. Ngakho-ke, ngale ndlela yokuzindla okucwebile sishiya yonke imicabango, amazwi kanye nemifanekiso ngemuva ukuze “imiqondo yethu siyibeke eMbusweni kaNkulunkulu ngaphambi kwakho konke okunye”. Ngale ndlela sishiya ukuzazisa kwethu uqobo emuva sife sivuke sibe yithi uqobo ngeqiniso kuKhrestu.

 “Thula wazi ukuthi nginguNkulunkulu”

 Ukuzindla kuphathelene nokuthula komoya kanye nomzimba. Nangale kwakho konke ukuphazamiseka kulo mhlaba wesimodeni, kungenzeka kahle nje lokhu kuthula kubantu besikhathi sanamhlanje. Kodwa ukuze sifinyelele kulokhu kuthula kufanele sinikele ngesikhathi emsebenzini wokuthula.

 Indlela esikwenza ngayo lokhu ukuthi sisho amazwana amafushane, noma igama lomzindlo, esikubiza namhlanje ngokuthi i-mantra (okuyigama eliphindaphindwayo emthandazweni ukusiza ukuthi umuntu agxile emkhulekweni). I-mantra indlela egcwele ukukholwa yokuguqula ukunaka kwethu kube ngaphezu kwethu, indlela yokusisusa imicabangweni yethu nasekukhathazekeni kwethu. Ukuzindla kwenza ubunye bomzimba, umqondo kanye nomoya.

 Lena inhloso esiyinikwa embhalweni: “Thula wazi ukuthi nginguNkulunkulu”. Ekuzindleni ilambu lokufuna ukwazi kwethu siyalicisha. Asicabangi noma asikhulumi noNkulunkulu nhlobo. Sifuna ukwenza into enkulu engenakulinganiswa: sifuna ukuba noNkulunkulu, ukuba semqondweni kaKhrestu. Siba ngale kwemicabango, ngisho imicabango engcwele. Ukuzindla akunandaba nokucabanga kodwa kunendaba nokuphila. Inhloso ekuzindleni kwethu kobuKhrestu ukuvumela ubukhona bukaNkulunkulu obuyimfihlo nobuthule osebuvele bungaphakathi kithi ukuthi bube yiqiniso elinikeza incazelo, isimo sokwakheka kanye nenhloso kuyo yonke into esiyiyo nesiyenzayo. Umsebenzi wokuqala wokuzindla ukuthi ubuyise imiqondo yethu ephazamisekile inake ngokuthula, ithule futhi ingabi nalutho.
